About

Somers Historical Society, founded in 1956, collects, maintains and exhibits material related to local history and the development of the early American Circus. The Museum houses permanent and changing exhibitions, a research facility, and a significant collection which includes paintings, prints, photographs, ephemera, advertisements, early documents, diaries, account books, furniture, textiles, and a miniature circus. The Society also oversees and interprets The Wright Reis Homestead, a Town-owned historic house museum.The Society offers free cultural and educational programs, as well as guided tours of the historic properties in the Town of Somers.

Somers Historical Society is a member of the Southeastern New York Library Resources Council.

Mabel Addis Oral History Collection
